This year over 100 musicians will travel to Putney from across the United States and abroad for the Yellow Barn’s 45th Summer Season. In 1969 David and Janet Wells founded Yellow Barn and immediately their neighbors embraced this vibrant addition to their community, cooking meals for the musicians and organizing concerts for the town. Over the ensuing decades, Yellow Barn has evolved into a year-round center for chamber music known around the world for its innovative approach to life-long education for musicians and audiences, commitment to quality and a unified aesthetic, and programs that focus listeners in new ways. Spring is one of the most exciting times for Yellow Barn. In May, the Artist Residencies come to a close, while Artistic Director Seth Knopp sets the stage for over 30 public events starting in mid-June. 36 young musicians, selected from over 500 applicants, and their faculty colleagues eagerly await their assignments, along with audiences ranging from those who have attended concerts for decades to those who will have their first Yellow Barn experiences this year.
